Well, okay, maybe not THAT School of Rock...this is something different!
Back in my old Napa digs, I hosted an educational day for two aspiring 12-year-old rockers who wanted to learn more about how songs are recorded in a professional studio and get their first creation ever on CD.
It was rock n' roll boot camp...we set a schedule up that allocated a certain amount of time for each recording "task" that would guarantee that at the end of the day they would walk with a finished CD in hand. Schedule was as follows:
9 a.m.—Load in, set up mics 10 a.m.—Sound check 11 a.m.—Drum recording
12 p.m.—Rythm guitars, lead guitar, bass
1 p.m.—Vocals
2 p.m.—Mastering
3 p.m._Load out
